Courage is my superpower
Courage is my superpower is an affirmation I wrote to myself at the beginning of January. It’s a mantra I’ve been leaning into these days in both my professional and personal life.
I made a really brave decision at the beginning of the year to take a much needed break from work. Listening to my body and naming my needs, the word rest kept coming up over and over again. Burnout is real and I’ve been struggling to manage my stress and anxiety, so giving myself the space and time to rest is what I desperately needed; it’s something we all need to show up as our full and best selves. It takes courage to name your needs and act on them accordingly, but I’m reminding myself that putting myself and my needs first is non-negotiable.
I also finally decided to find a new therapist (fourth time’s the charm!) who is already challenging me in new ways that I’m so grateful for. I’m a firm believer in therapy, and although vulnerability is hard and being open and honest with a stranger is scary - it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself.
What courageous act(s) are you stepping into this year?
Courage is teaching me a lot about myself. The more I practice it, the easier it becomes. It takes courage to do just about anything that’s even slightly out of your comfort zone (and I like my comfort zone, a lot). But let “courage is my superpower” be your mantra too and use these affirmations to guide you through:

Let go of things no longer serving me
Advocate for myself in spaces where I don’t feel seen
Love myself fully even when others can’t
Know my worth and not settle for anything less than I deserve
Admit when I’m not ok
Trust yourself and be open to what’s available on the other side of your courage - hope, self-love, forgiveness, joy, abundance. Having courage is a radical act of bravery and it’s within all of us; all we have to do is open our hearts and minds to believe we’re capable of welcoming it.
